CHRISTINA HAMRE
It´s with pleasure we present our second solo exhibition with the danish artist Christina Hamre. With the choice of the title " KAPOW ! Sun Ra " Hamre indicates complexity in form as in content.
Her works relate as much to contemporary cartoon language as to fusion jazz and the deeds of the protective gods in ancient Egyptian temple paintings. In this exhibition we arrive at a sort of Underworld of shapes and shadows. Hamre uncovers themes like dreams, the subconscious, death, coercion and freedom.
With her characteristic lines she ventures the darkness of the inner glance, where the sight regains its sensitive orientation in an ecstatic experience. The art becomes an opening into - and an exit from the known to the unknown, searching for new meaning and understanding.
