Emma Ainala, (b.1989), Helsinki.
Lives and works in Savonlinna, Finland.
Girly, quirky, kitsch, sexual, psychological, and mythical are terms frequently used when pinpointing and interpreting Ainala´s paintings. A world where feminine figures and hybrids play a significant role and where a myriad of symbols and references unfold. The interiors and landscapes are luscious and exaggerated. Time is warped and we find ourselves in a digi-disney after dark where everything is spirited.
Emma Ainala presents us with elements previously excluded from pictorial art for reasons of male chauvinism but which the artist brings to our attention with a BANG!
